Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

This page is maintained by SitterPlus to describe how we handle personal information for parents and babysitters using our platform. It is provided for transparency and is not a legal certification. For questions, contact us via the contact page.

1. Who we are

SitterPlus ("SitterPlus", "we", "us") operates a marketplace that connects parents with verified babysitters in Canadian cities including Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. We are the controller of the personal information you provide through the platform.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email, phone number, city, and account role (parent or sitter).
  • Sitter application data: bio, experience, hourly rate, availability, languages, age groups served, references, and certifications you disclose (CPR, First Aid) along with your consent to background screening.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, device and browser information, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • Communications: messages you send us through the platform or via support channels.

3. How we use information

  • Create and manage your SitterPlus account.
  • Review sitter applications and communicate the status of your submission.
  • Match parents with sitters, facilitate bookings, and provide customer support.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Improve the safety, reliability, and quality of the platform.
  • Comply with legal obligations under Canadian federal and provincial privacy laws, including PIPEDA and, where applicable, Quebec's Law 25.

4. Sharing information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only with:
  • Sitters and parents you choose to interact with, limited to what is needed to arrange care.
  • Service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, authentication, analytics, payments, background screening, mapping). These providers act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Authorities when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of SitterPlus, our users, or the public.

5. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Sitter application records may be retained longer for safety and audit purposes.

6. Your rights

Subject to Canadian privacy law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent to certain uses, though this may limit your ability to use parts of the platform. Requests can be sent through the contact page.

7. Security

We use industry-standard controls including encryption in transit, role-based access controls, and audit logging. No system is fully secure — please use a strong password and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

8. Children

SitterPlus is intended for adults. Parents may add information about their children solely to arrange care. We do not knowingly allow anyone under the age of majority in their province to create an account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email before they take effect.
